Chair Sutton welcomed newly assigned Assistant City Attorney Jazmine Preston-O’Neill to the Civil Service Board meeting, then continued with order of the day.  

Adoption of Agenda

Chair Sutton asked if there were any revisions to the Agenda.  Hearing none, a motion to adopt the Agenda as printed was considered and resulted as follows:

Findings of Fact concerning the Appeal Hearing on behalf of Mario Gonzalez, former Police Officer, concerning his Termination, effective November 9, 2021. (DISCUSSION)

The Board members reviewed the Findings of Fact presented by Special Counsel and Chair Sutton asked if anyone had any objections. Hearing none, the Board entered a motion to ADOPT the Findings of Fact and Recommendations presented, which resulted as follows:

Hearings Pending List as of August 8, 2023. (NOTIFICATION)

The Executive Secretary advised the Board of a public meeting scheduled in the Commission Chambers on August 22, 2023, and requested the will of the Board regarding the scheduled Civil Service Board meeting.

Following discussion, the Board entered a Motion to Cancel the meeting of August 22, 2023, which resulted as follows:

Appeal Hearing on behalf of Alexander Garcia-Contreras, Police Officer, concerning his 80-hour suspension, effective October 10, 2022.

 

The Board was advised of an email from Attorney Gibbons, withdrawing the appeal request on behalf of his client, Officer Garcia-Contreras. Assistant City Attorney Preston-O’Neill confirmed receipt of the notice of withdrawal.

This Hearing is considered WITHDRAWN and will be removed from the Board’s docket.

Appeal Hearing on behalf of Rodolfo Diaz, Police Officer, concerning his 220-hour suspension, effective October 10, 2022.

 

Assistant City Attorney Preston-O’Neill advised the Board of a pending settlement in this matter. A copy of the executed agreement will be forwarded once finalized; otherwise, the hearing will be rescheduled in accordance with the Civil Service Board continuance policy.

There being no further business before the Board, a motion was entered to adjourn the meeting at 10:22 am, which resulted as follows:
