City of Miami Consolidated Plan 2024-2028

WHAT IS THE CONSOLIDATED PLAN?

Each year, the City of Miami receives federal grant funds from the US Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to assist those residents most in need via allowable activities or services including: assisting small businesses, providing job training for adults and youth, improving neighborhoods through projects that eliminate slum and blight, providing or preserving affordable housing, and funding services for seniors and the disabled. These federal grant funds are limited and need to be prioritized and targeted in a way that will provide the most benefit to the most people.

The Consolidated Plain (CP) is a template-based, written document, issued by the US Dept. of Housing & Urban Development, that requires communities that receive HUD funds (CDBG, HOME, ESG, HOPWA) to answer important questions related to their jurisdiction in matters such as homelessness, assisted housing, cost burdens, and more. The community’s long-term needs and goals are prioritized to span the next five years, and we submit them to the federal government in what is known as the Consolidated Plan (CP).

WHY ARE WE HOLDING COMMUNITY MEETINGS?

The City wants and needs to obtain input from City residents and stakeholders to identify the needs and establish goals for how the funds should be invested in our neighborhoods for inclusion in the CP being drafted this year to span 2024-2028 (Oct. 1, 2024 – September 30, 2029).

HOW WILL IT BENEFIT YOU?

Federal grant funds can be seen in action in your neighborhood through federally-funded child care centers, after-school programs for children, hot meals for our elderly, training and assistance for disabled residents and small businesses, services for the homeless and so many other programs and projects.

WHAT IS THE CONSOLIDATED PLAN NOT GOING TO DO?

The Consolidated Plan will not solve all of our City’s immediate needs. It is not an unlimited fund or grant which means not every need will be able to be addressed.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE?

You can attend one of our upcoming community meetings this Spring or visit our dedicated web pages noted below to provide valuable input via survey. You can also submit questions. We want to hear from you!
