Report Pollution

Do you want to report pollution in the City of Miami, a suspected discharge issue, or there is a spill on a waterway, or you see an illicit discharge or a spill? You can send an email to discharge@miamigov.com or call 305-416-1295 to report this matter. Your report will be forwarded to the appropriate Section to respond to this matter as soon as possible. Community feedback and assistance on reporting pollution is always welcome!

Keep in mind:

To use this service, the pollution issue must be within City of Miami limits. (You can use our tool to search an address. City of Miami is in the highlighted area).

This service applies to pollution issues that affects the public right of way. We must protect the water quality in the City of Miami by reporting any illicit substances to enter the stormwater system. Only rainwater is allowed to enter the stormwater system!

Please report the following pollution matters:

  • Sediment discharge runoff, silted water (cloudy water), affecting a drainage inlet, waterways, or open ground.
  • Dust or debris from a construction site or any facility.
  • A sanitary sewer overspill, an overflow sanitary manhole, or an illegal sanitary sewer dumping.  
  • A plume (turbid discharge) from an outfall pipe into a waterway.
  • Spilled paint, diesel, gasoline, used oil or any hazardous material.
  • An illegal hose discharging silted water.
  • A pipe from private property connected to a drainage inlet.
  • Oil sheen in a waterway.
  • A hose dewatering a pool.
  • Chemical substances/drums, buckets, or containers abandoned on public right of way.
  • Food waste placed on roads or ground without proper container.
  • Fish/bird kills (large number in one location).
