Current Project Status:

Design plans approved in March 2025.

Project Scope:

Design and construction of three seawalls in the Morningside neighborhood. The work includes raising or replacing seawalls, dredging, bursting outfall pipes, installing manhole structures, tidal valves, manatee grates, riprap, guardrails, signs and pavement markings, removing concrete and asphalt, milling, resurfacing, street lighting, landscaping, and restoring the right-of-way. The seawall at NE 55 Terrace was removed from the scope and replaced with the seawall at NE 62 Street.

• Number of properties impacted: Total = 49 (47 Residential and 2 Non-Residential)
• Total property value protected: $41M

Project Boundaries:

The project limits are bounded by 

NE 59 Street along Biscayne Bay.
NE 61 Street along Biscayne Bay.
NE 62 Street along Biscayne Bay.
