Contractor Qualification Information

To perform construction work within the City of Miami, contractors must meet specific licensing, documentation, and insurance requirements. The information below outlines the qualifications you must provide before you can register as a Building Contractor with the City. Ensuring that your documents are accurate and up to date will help prevent delays in the approval process.

Contractor Qualifications:

  • State License (DBPR)
  • Business Occupational License/ Local Business Tax Receipt (LBT)
  • Driver’s License
  • EIN # of the Company
  • Company Name, Address, Email and Phone Number

Certificates of Insurance:

  • Liability Certificate of Insurance
  • Worker’s Compensation Certificate of Insurance

*Certificates of insurance must be sent DIRECTLY from the insurance provider and must name the City of Miami Building Department as certificate holder*

Once you have gathered all required licenses, business information, and insurance certificates, you may proceed to Register as a Building Contractor.
