Senior Rental Assistance Program

Check Eligibility

The senior applicant:

• Must be age 62+ and rent a unit within City of Miami limits. Residential addresses can be checked at the search tool location here: link. This search tool will also indicate what City District the address is located within. 
• Must have a household income of 50% AMI and below, based on the number of persons in the household. See income chart for those details.
• Must be current on their rent. 
• Must have an executed lease/rental agreement. 

Pick up Application and gather documents  

A paper application can be picked up during an open application period. The applicant should then gather all the necessary supporting documentation requested on the application itself. This includes: 

• A completed program application including the signed affidavit which is included as part of the paper application 
• A copy of current executed rental agreement/lease (all pages);
• A copy of current State of Florida issued identification card; 
• A copy of most recent proof of monthly income (ex: monthly social security statement; pension statement; or last three pay stubs);

TIP: Do not submit outdated leases or copies of expired identification as these will not be accepted. 

Submit by Deadline

After completing the application, and gathering the required supporting documentation, the applicant should submit it all in one package as indicated on the application. All applications received during the application period will be considered as applying at the same time. It does not matter if an application is received on the first or last day. Please mail in only one application per household. Submission of an application does not guarantee assistance. 

District Lotteries and Waitlists 

The City of Miami will review applications for preliminary eligibility.  Applicants found to be ineligible (living outside of the City of Miami, being under age 62,  or living in public housing) will not be included in any subsequent District lotteries. Due to the expected volume of applications, the City will not contact applicants who are found to be ineligible.

Computerized lotteries will be held for each District in order to establish a numerical order for the processing of the applications for each District. The lottery waitlists will be posted on this web page no later than March 31, 2026. Submission of an application does not guarantee assistance. Receiving a lottery number does not guarantee assistance.

This program is operates based on available funding in each District and may open or close at the City of Miami’s discretion.

NOTE: Once an applicant is selected from a waitlist, the applicant’s landlord (property owner) must provide a valid, signed W-9 form to the City of Miami. If a third party manages the property, a property management agreement must also be provided.
