FDOT Community Meetings on Drawbridge Reconstruction Project
City of Miami residents and community members - especially those in the Downtown and East Little Havana neighborhoods - are invited to attend either of two FDOT community information meetings next week, where they can learn more about the upcoming, multi-year project to replace the existing SW 1st Street drawbridge. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of May 20th.
The existing bridge, which was built 90 years ago, connects Downtown Miami and East Little Havana. Construction of the new replacement bridge will take approximately three years to complete, and FDOT representatives will host two community meetings next week to share information about the project, including:
- The project plan and timeline
- Traffic detours that will be put in place to maintain traffic flow during project construction
- Benefits of replacing the existing SW 1st Street drawbridge with a new one
Those unable to attend next week's FDOT community meetings can learn more about the SW 1st Street drawbridge project by visiting the following website: http://www.fdotmiamidade.com/current-projects/south-miami-dade/sr-968sw-1-st-bascule-bridge-replacement-1.html
