The City of Miami is seeking volunteers to serve on the Art in Public Places Board (AIPPB). In accordance with Section 62-655 of the Miami City Code, as amended, no appointment shall be made by the City Commission to membership or alternate membership on AIPPB until the City Clerk has given at least thirty (30) days notice of the vacancies in a newspaper of general circulation.    

It is intended that members and alternate members of the AIPPB be persons of knowledge, experience, mature judgment, and background; having ability and desire to act in the public interest; and representing the various special professional training, experience, and interests required to make informed and equitable decisions concerning the artistic development of the city.

The AIPPB is composed of nine (9) voting members and two (2) alternate members appointed by the Mayor and City Commission.

Interested volunteers shall have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in the fields of fine arts, art education, museum curation, architecture, art history, urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, interior design, graphic or product design, music, real estate development, construction management or finance. One (1) member and two (2) alternate members must have an interest in the visual and performing arts. Neither of these members is required to have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree. One (1) alternate member shall be a representative of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The Superintendent of Schools shall make a recommendation to the City Commission on the appointment of the alternate member.

Application forms are available in the City Clerk’s Office and online at the City Clerk’s website (https://miamigov.com/boards).

All applications from the public must be received by Friday, July 25, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Qualified applications received by the deadline will be given due consideration by the City Commission. The names and qualifications of persons submitted to the City Clerk will be available for review on Monday, August 11, 2025 in the City Clerk’s Office or online at the City Clerk’s website (https://miamigov.com/boards).

Additionally, the City Clerk shall, at least five (5) days prior to the making of any appointment, publicly notice the list of names submitted and the names of the candidates submitted by the City Commission together with a short statement of the qualifications of each person, prepared and available for public inspection and consideration. The names and qualifications of persons submitted by the City Commission as prospective nominees to the AIPPB will be available for review on Monday, August 25, 2025, in the City Clerk’s Office or online at the City Clerk’s website at (https://miamigov.com/boards)
