Commissioner Rolando Escalona

Rolando Escalona serves as the City of Miami Commissioner for District 3, representing the diverse and historic neighborhoods of Little Havana, East Shenandoah, West Brickell, Silver Bluff, The Roads, and surrounding communities. Elected in December 2025, Commissioner Escalona brings a new generation of leadership focused on accountability, accessibility, and delivering real results for residents. Born in Havana, Cuba, Commissioner Escalona immigrated to the United States and was raised in Miami. His story reflects the lived experience of many in District 3—built on resilience, hard work, and opportunity. He began his career in the hospitality industry, starting as a busboy and working his way up to become a general manager of a major Brickell restaurant, overseeing large teams and complex operations. That hands-on management experience shaped his leadership style: practical, people-centered, and results-driven.

Commissioner Escalona earned a degree in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University, combining real-world operational experience with a strong foundation in public policy and governance. A first-time candidate for elected office, Escalona ran on a platform centered on public safety, neighborhood quality of life, infrastructure improvements, housing affordability, small business support, and transparent government. His decisive runoff victory reflected a clear mandate from residents for responsive leadership and a renewed focus on community needs.

As Commissioner, Escalona is committed to restoring trust in city government by being present in neighborhoods, listening to constituents, and working collaboratively to solve problems. He believes city government should be accessible, efficient, and focused on improving everyday life for residents. Commissioner Escalona is married and is a new father to twin babies, an experience that has further strengthened his commitment to building a safer, more affordable, and more livable Miami for families today and for generations to come.
